Our perception of ourselves, surrounding people and events is due to past experience. We tell you how to find the causes of problems in the past and learn how to replace toxic thoughts with more positive.
How to «catch» negative?
Consciousness is more dependent on external factors than internal. We look at what is happening around, and almost do not notice what thoughts arise. Nature created us: we are attentive to what we see, but we almost completely ignore our internal processes. Moreover, thoughts and emotions are sometimes no less dangerous than external threats.
Self -awareness, or self -awareness as a person who thinks was born not so long ago. If you present the history of evolution in the form of a watch, it happened at 11:59. Modern civilization gives us the means to realize how many thoughts, pictures and memories consists of intellectual experience.
Thoughts are illusory, but they can be «caught». To do this, you need to learn how to focus on the inner world. This is not easy, because all attention is usually directed to the outside world.
First you need to pay attention to
yourself and learn reflection: to pull out of the depths of the consciousness of thoughts that «rush» in a continuous stream without stopping
At first, it seems that these are only thoughts about household details: what to prepare for lunch, in which room to restore order and what work tasks to solve. Deeper, in the subconscious, there are other repeated thoughts that form conscious experience. They arise in consciousness only when life requires this. These are thoughts about failures and losses, disappointment and fear. They have no statute of limitations and fitness, they are not attached to a specific event. They are extracted from the bowels of the past, like clay from the bottom of the ocean.
When we began to think that something was wrong with us: in high school, at the university? Hate yourself, be afraid of people and wait for a catch? When these negative voices sounded in my head?
Two ways to track irritating thoughts
Reconstruct the «crime scene». Remember the moment when you felt sad, anger or anxiety. What happened that day and caused these feelings? How that day was different from others, what you thought? That you muttered under your breath?
To recreate in the imagination a specific moment or experience associated with a negative experience. Try to remember this experience as more detail as possible, as if it is happening right now.
What can be found during such «excursions» on their own consciousness? Perhaps you will find there the origins of offensive thoughts, because of which you consider yourself a person who will never achieve anything. Or maybe you will understand that the meaning of some negative circumstances and disappointing events is greatly exaggerated.
Some thoughts are lost in the flow of time, and we cannot understand where the negative experience came from. Do not despair. Thoughts and situations are repeated. The next time, having experienced similar emotions, stop, “catch” thought and reflect on it.
